WHAT THE F**K IS BLAQ LABEL?

And why the “Q”? Maybe while visiting the site or if you found me via social media; you might be asking yourself…what does the name mean and what the eff is a “Blaq Label”? Here are answers.

Blaq Label (pronounced “black label”) is a term with many meanings and varied demographics. How I am interpreting it on this site and as my identity is more in alignment with the fashion, luxury goods, and bespoke design world. In the fashion and lux goods industries, the black label moniker is usually designated for made-to-measure clothing on the upper end of the line. Think Ralph Lauren. Think Hermes.

In the design world, it is the polar opposite of the term “white label” whereas a designer (sometimes me) or artist (often me) will produce an item or design for another company (sometimes you) while allowing that same company (you again) to assume all credit for the work. Since this is my site and my work, I am showcasing those pieces produced as Blaq Label, or rather, my fully credited (mostly) unaltered work. I will do white label work and will sign NDAs if you ask me. The work just won’t appear here or in any of my public portfolios.* The “Q” in Blaq is just for phonetic fun and was available as a domain. Blaq Label is also a pending registered trademark.
